Steven Waggoner graduated from BYU in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in illustration. In 2009, Waggoner explored Provo city, painting portraits of various members of the community. Spending roughly one hour on each portrait, he completed 50 paintings which were displayed and auctioned off in downtown Provo. The proceeds went to the Food and Care Coalition.
In 2010, Waggoner was selected as a winner of the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition.
In 2011 Steven was part of the Capitol Reef Project funded by the Laycock Center for Creative Collaboration in the Arts. The project included students from all disciplines of visual arts and concluded with an exhibit, A Private Experience in a Public Space, at BYU and also at Snow College.
In 2012 Waggoner received a student scholarship from the Society of Illustrators for his work, Nie Nie's Wee-Nies.
