Spencer M. Burgess graduated from Brigham Young University in 2006 with a degree in graphic design.

In May 2006 Burgess was part of a project funded by the Laycock Center for Creative Collaboration in the Arts. The project took Graphic Design students to the 16th Annual AGIdeas Conference in Melbourne, Australia. BYU was the only non-professional presenter but still represented themselves well under project directors Adrian Pulfer and Linda Reynolds.

In 2014, Burgess worked on alumnus Bruce Christy's design team to create the highly successful glasses.com app, which was the App Store's most successful retailer app download campaign in iAd history. Fellow alumni Matt Scherer and Shaun Steele also collaborated on the project.
