Jonathan Frioux graduated from Brigham Young University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in studio arts. As part of a class at BYU in 2009, taught by Joseph Ostraff, Frioux and his classmates each painted pictures of mason jars, which were then sold. The proceeds from the sale went to feeding hungry families. In 2013, he received his master's degree in painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. Later that year, he returned to BYU as a adjunct faculty member in the Department of Art.
In 2014, Frioux was awarded a residency at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, which culminated the following year in a solo exhibition featuring painting, video, and sculpture, titled Polarities.
