Deena Winters graduated from Brigham Young University in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in piano performance.

Her initial training was in classical piano, but over the last decade, Winters has created a name for herself as a jazz pianist. She was able to study jazz piano under Ted Rosenthal of Juilliard and has attended music workshop at Carnegie Hall.

In 2007, Winters started the Jazz Piano Artists of Utah, an association which strives to promote and emphasize the role of the piano in jazz music.

During August 2008, Winters was invited to perform at Tahitian Noni Gardens in Provo. She performed alongside her son, Brand Robinson who is a jazz guitarist.
