Andrew "Andy" K. Rasmussen
graduated from Brigham Young University
with a master’s degree in music
. Prior to his acceptance into BYU’s
master program, he received a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Southern Utah University. After singing for a year at BYU he was deployed to Afghanistan with the Army National Guard, which he joined after serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil. During his deployment he was assigned to a military intelligence battalion as a translator. After nine years in the military Andy decided to get a job in law enforcement rather than supporting his family through singing.
In 2012 Andy decided to audition for the Art City Days Talent Show in Springville, Utah. By the end of his selection, "Bring Him Home" from the musical Les Miserables, the judges were in tears because of Andy’s expression and "angelic" voice. He performed at the Spring Acres Arts Park as part of Springville’s festival.
