Amanda Moody Nixon graduated from Brigham Young University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in keyboard performance and pedagogy, and in 2001 with a master’s degree in performance and pedagogy. In 2001, she was awarded an Oscarson Discovery Grant, which allowed her to travel to Washington DC to participate in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Piano Competition, where she received second place.
