Alyssa Christenson Morris graduated from Brigham Young University in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in oboe performance and in 2015 with a master's degree in music. In 2007, she composed Four Personalities, which was reviewed by the International Double Reed Society in their journal.

In 2014, she received a grant from the Laycock Center to attend and present compositions at the International Double Reed Society's 2014 Convention. She collaborated with percussionists Ron Brough, Jared Morris, Sean Statser, and Abby Fisher in the performance of her own original work Forecast. The Sundance Trio (Geralyn Giovannetti, Christian Smith, and Jed Moss) commissioned Morris to compose an original work for them. The piece, titled Up and Away, was premiered at the conference.
